We are pleased to welcome Raven Anxo to the 2018 Darker signing!

About Me

I’ve always had a love of reading. Books became my friends at an early age, and when I discovered my local library it was like I’d found my own paradise. I’ve lost count of the hours I spent within all the amazing worlds I discovered.

I attended University where I undertook studies in business and computing, intending to pursue a career in business. However fate had other plans for me as events in my personal life placed me in a position where I had time on my hands and an active imagination. Pushed by my need to put down on paper what my mind created I began to write. Encouraged by my friends who enjoyed my stories I began concentrating more on my writing, something for which I am eternally grateful to them for.

After publishing my first books I knew I had found my voice and now I write books which run from paranormal fiction to urban fantasy and paranormal romance.  Now every morning when I get up I can’t wait to see what new stories and adventures will appear, demanding to be written.

When I’m not found in front of my laptop, I love to spend time in my garden, or curled up on the couch with either a movie on or a good book. Though you can be sure a notepad and pen won’t be far from me. After all you never know when inspiration will strike.

I bid you welcome to my sometimes strange, but always wonderful world.

We are pleased to welcome Laura Morgan  to the 2018 Darker signing!
Laura is a hopeless romantic with a dark side. Be warned, she writes cliffhangers and twists and turns galore, so if you’re after something light and fluffy, you might want to try elsewhere… 😉
Laura Morgan is a self-confessed computer geek, she enjoys both the writing and editing side of her journey, and regularly seeks out the next big gadget on her wish list.
She spends her days looking after her two young children and their cocker spaniel Milo, as well as making the most of her free time by going to concerts with her friends, or else listening to rock music at home while writing (a trend many readers may have picked up on in her stories.)

We are pleased to welcome  Marie Anne Cope to the 2018 Darker signing!

As well as being a dark fantasy and horror writer, I also teach Hatha and Sports Yoga and am a self-employed accountant.

As a child, I was always buried in books – books about faraway lands, about princes and princesses, about excitement and adventure, about mystery and fear.

Only once did I choose to write down a story, as a child. It was the tale of a severed arm being found washed up on the shore. It was dramatised by graphic drawings and heavily influenced by a certain movie I wasn’t supposed to have watched.

I was rapped on the knuckles and told never to write anything like that again. I never did. Not a word. Not for over fifteen years.

Why did I start again? Which of the voices in my head can claim credit for restoring my storytelling? I cannot say, for fear the others may fall silent. Suffice it to say the stories came thick and fast, once the dam had burst.

I entered many writing competitions, to no avail, but continued to believe that one day I would succeed.

It took three little words, whispered during an overheard conversation that brought me my success. Three Silver Bullets, a story I penned in less than half an hour, was published by Thirteen Magazine in 2005. This was followed in 2007 by Sheer Hell, which was published on the website of Climb Magazine.

It was my attendance at a wedding which changed my path from short stories to novels. The wedding was being held in an old village church. At the back of the church stood an ancient stone coffin covered in engravings. It was this coffin that sparked my interest and it was during the service that my imagination took flight. If it wasn’t for that wedding, Bonds, which became a quarter finalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards, would never have been born!

Although I left Bonds open for a sequel, I never believed it would be so soon. Somewhere, in the deep dark recesses of my mind, Antony and Becca would have another outing; I just had no plan as to when that would be. It was all down to requests from my readers that Broken Bonds came into being so soon, rather than being recessed somewhere dark and scary!!

Broken Bonds is the second of four novels centred around the unusual relationship between Becca Martin and Antony Cardover. The third novel, Bonds Re-Bound is currently being written, the voices in my head having penned a much darker storyline.

A venture which I’ve brought to fruition this Hallowe’en is my first foray into writing for children. The Misfits tells the tale of four supernatural friends who are failing miserably at being what they are expected to be and who learn to overcome these perceived failings, gaining the respect of both their parents and their peers.

I have also published a collection of some of my short horror stories, Tales From a Scarygirl.

By the way, the teacher who told me “never to write such horrible things again” is now one of my biggest fans!

I’d love to hear from you, dear reader, and to hear your thoughts on my novels. Do get in touch.

Here’s a little bit about each of the novels and what people are saying about them:

“‘Captivating’, ‘suspenseful’ and ‘gripping’, Bonds tells the story of Becca Martin’s struggle to accept her birthright as a witch and Antony Cardover’s battle to break his vampire curse. The two are bonded by Isabella, Antony’s adulterous wife and Becca’s ancestor. Bonds has received five star reviews and acclaim from readers globally.

Described as ‘Better than Twilight’, Broken Bonds continues the epic story of Becca Martin as she’s driven to keep a promise to a man who would rather see her dead. Becca is forced to delve deeper into her past and that of her ancestors to find the answers she seeks. Broken Bonds has again received widespread acclaim from readers, calling it ‘fantastic’, ‘brilliant’ and ‘worthy of five stars’.

Tales from a Scarygirl is a collection of short stories to chill you to the core, to make you afraid, very afraid of what lurks between this world and the next. Featuring Three Silver Bullets, Raven Bridge, The Creature Within and The Night Stalker, Tales from a Scarygirl is a ‘spine tingling page turner’.

With plots featuring more twists than a corkscrew through the heart, get ready to lock the doors and find your safe place as you discover the enthralling world of Marie Anne Cope… just be prepared for a long, dark night.”

˜”*°•✫★ 2019 Leeds Author Announcement

We are pleased to welcome E S Carter  to the Leeds 2019 event!
ES Carter lives in Cardiff, South Wales. The home of castles, dragons and folklore.
Her family joke that she was born with a book in her hand, and the urge to write stories soon followed.
At eleven, she won her school’s literary prize. At ages fourteen to sixteen – her poetry phase after falling in love with Dylan Thomas and e.e. cummings – she had a few poems published, but life, love and family overtook her dreams, and she was in her thirties when she began the scary journey of self-publishing.
Her debut and internationally best-selling series, ‘Love by Numbers’, are a set of interconnected stand alone romances, all with varying themes of love. From second-chance to romantic comedy and M/M romance. These stories do not need to be read in order, in fact, she is often guilty of advising readers to start at the last book and work their way back through.
Contemporary romance is not the only genre she writes, her second series, ‘The Red Order’, is as dark and twisted as you can get, but there is beauty there too if you can open your eyes and look.
With many more stories bursting to be set free, she hopes you stay along for the ride.

She loves to connect with readers, so please feel free to friend/follow her on Facebook, IG and Twitter or join her reader’s group, E’s Elite ❤

˜”*°•✫★ 2019 Leeds Author Announcement

We are pleased to welcome Anna Edwards to the Leeds 2019 event!
Ok, this is the bit where I have to sell myself. Why is it so much easier to write about sexy blokes! Anyway…I am a British author, from the depths of the rural countryside near London. In a previous life, I was an Accountant from the age of twenty-one. I still do that on occasions, but most of my life is now spent intermingling writing while looking after my husband, two children and two cats (probably in the inverse order to the one listed!). When I have some spare time, I can also be found writing poetry, baking cakes (and eating them), or behind a camera snapping like a mad paparazzi.

In 2015 I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. It was also around this time that I became one of the founding members of a dramatic/erotic/dark roleplaying group on Twitter. It was wildly popular with both English and American followers. The writing helped me to overcome my depression by giving me an outlet to channel my thoughts into and not sit around worrying all day about things that would never happen. I took over responsibility for management of the group and responsibility for the development of our storylines. As well as playing at least ten different characters in the group ranging from an innocent virgin, bloodthirsty assassin and even a male lover. The success of the role-plays spurred me on to writing novels.

I have a love of travelling and like to bring this to my stories to give them the air of reality. Surrendered Control, my first book released in November 2016, combines two of my favourite travel destinations. India is where I lived for eighteen months with my husband and two children. My young son was only six months old when we travelled there. It was a fabulous time for us all, and they learnt so much about the differing cultures, as well as, much to my husband’s chagrin, spending lots of money in the silk shops. The Control series will feature lots of international travel.

I have always been an avid reader. Mainly murder mystery in the past but with Beautiful Bastard I discovered a whole new set of novels and I haven’t looked back since. I like my heroes hot and hunky with a dirty mouth. My heroines demure but with spunk. And my books in a kick arse series.

˜”*°•✫★ 2019 Leeds Author Announcement

We are pleased to welcome  Willow Winters to the Leeds 2019 event!

I actually started writing after having my little girl, Evie, December of 2015. All during my pregnancy with her I read. I only wanted to read smut and I read EVERYTHING. I would read a book a day — sometimes two. In January I was staying up late with her and just thinking of all these stories. They came to me constantly. And I finally sat down and just started writing. I always wanted to do it so I figured, why not?

I never thought I would reach this point of success to be honest. It’s insane to me that I have so many fans. And I love each and every one of them for all of their support. I’ll be honest, some days are HARD. I have my two littles (Jax who’s two and a half and Evie who just turned one!) during the day and I write at night. Some days are just simply exhausting and then I hear from a fan and it makes me want to push through and keep writing. And I do. I promise I won’t stop!

If you enjoy sexy as f*ck and dangerous men getting into trouble for the women they fall for, then you’ll love my books. I like my action hot and my bad boys hotter. And I don’t hold back on either one in my writing.

˜”*°•✫★ 2019 Leeds Author Announcement

We are pleased to welcome Anna-Maria Athanasiou to the Leeds 2019 event!
A contemporary author of romance novels that are emotional, absorbing and passionate.
Available from Amazon and on Kindle.
Anna-Maria Athanasiou wrote her first books, The Waiting for Summer novels in secret, firstly because she never thought she’d finish them and secondly, it was acompletely new territory for her. Throughout her life Anna-Maria had regularly created scenarios and stories in her head, thinking that one day she would finally put them down on paper. Eventually, in the September of 2011 she took the plunge and started to write down an idea that she’d been creating for almost ten years.
Waiting for Summer books one and two are the result of her small idea, and she finally had them published in September 2013 and June 2014. The love story and her characters, Sylvie and Nick, captured the hearts and enthusiasm of her readers, spurring Anna-Maria to carry on with her writing.
Anna-Maria has since been asked to collaborate with other authors on two charity anthologies, and has recently worked together again on a new charity anthology, due to be published soon.
She lives in Cyprus with her family and has penchant for cake, tea, whisky, wine and a healthy obsession with shoes. Anna-Maria loves the fantasy land of romantic fiction, and is passionate about bringing her stories and characters to life.
The first book, For Starters, in her new trilogy La Casa d’Italia series, is now available.
