We are pleased to welcome  J F Holland to the 2018 Darker signing!

I still live in the small town in Manchester, Uk, where I was born, raised and attended school. Now a mother to 6 children; whom I’ve also raised here. I live with a small menagerie of animals and my writing buddy is my bully pup (he’s also my bathroom break buddy and my bed buddy).

I’ve always loved the underdog, the fighter, but let’s face it, we all want to believe in the happily ever after. As a huge fan of books (book nerd is the endearing term, my children use), I have an immense romance collection (Jill Shalvis, Hannah Howell etc) which also includes paranormal romance (Lynsey Sands, Christine Feehan, JR Ward etc). If I’m not writing, I’ve got my head stuck in a good book.

You can’t beat reading, watching the plot and characters come to life in your imagination, so much better than television. When I was younger, I tended to re-write books and fairy-tales where I was not completely happy with the ending, confused the hell out of my children once they learned to read; none of the books matched the stories I’d read them.

So after a varied career in everything from Retail, Admin, Customer Service and Teaching unemployed adults IT and customer service skills, I decided it was time I started to do something I love with my life and write my own stories. After becoming ill a few years ago I’m now at home full time, classed as disabled (neuro fog can make life and writing fun sometimes)

We are pleased to welcome  Apryl Baker to the 2018 Darker signing!
So who am I? Well, I’m the crazy girl with an imagination that never shuts up. I LOVE scary movies. My friend Chazz laughs at me when I scare myself watching them and tells me to stop watching them, but who doesn’t love to get scared? I grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees, and causing general mayhem. Nights I would stay up reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers until my parents yelled at me to go to sleep.

Growing up in a small town, I learned a lot of values and morals, I also learned parents have spies everywhere and there’s always someone to tell your mama you were seen kissing a particular boy on a particular day just a little too long. So when you get grounded, what is there left to do? Read! My Aunt Jo gave me my first real romance novel. It was a romance titled “Lord Margrave’s Deception.” I remember it fondly. But I also learned I had a deep and abiding love of mysteries and anything paranormal. As I grew up, I started to write just that and would entertain my friends with stories featuring them as main characters.

Now, I live Huntersville, NC and a small town in WV where I entertain my niece and nephew and watch the cats get teased by the birds and laugh myself silly when they swoop down and then dive back up just out of reach. The cats start yelling something fierce…lol.

I love books, I love writing books, and I love entertaining people with my silly stories.

We are pleased to welcome T L Wainwright to the 2018 Darker signing!
I’m born and breed in Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK and love nothing more than curling up with a good eBook or stroking and petting my signed paperbacks. By day, I’m an export manager.
By night a writer of hot and saucy romances, with a angst and a smidgen of Yorkshire humour. Undoubtedly, targeted to the adult audience that love a hot ass guy and a real woman.
I love everything that the book world has to offer including the charismatic fans, bloggers and authors who continue to amaze me. It has been a total revelation.
My motto… Dreams Are Real, Imagination A Necessity – Love to Read. Live to Write. And I have the tattoo to prove it.

We are pleased to welcome Joey Paul to the 2018 Darker signing!

Joey Paul is an indie author, exploring the young adult crime genre. She has released eight books in total so far, with a ninth due out in the summer of 2016. Her current works include the “Dying Thoughts” series, and she is planning to start writing the last book. She usually writes crime and mystery fiction, with a paranormal twist, but she has been known to dabble in contemporary romance and general fiction. She is writing her fifteenth and sixteenth books at the moment, having recently finished her last two.

Joey is disabled and a recent graduate from The Open University with a BA (Hons) in Health & Social Care. When not reading medical textbooks, she enjoys reading crime novels, medical dramas and young adult novels. When she’s out and about, she likes looking for Tupperware in the woods with GPS satellites, otherwise known as geocaching. And when she’s not doing THAT, she’s sleeping! She’s 34 and has been writing since she was retired from her job on medical grounds at the age of 19. She plans to write for as long as she has ideas or until someone tells her to stop!

We are pleased to welcome Raven Anxo to the 2018 Darker signing!

About Me

I’ve always had a love of reading. Books became my friends at an early age, and when I discovered my local library it was like I’d found my own paradise. I’ve lost count of the hours I spent within all the amazing worlds I discovered.

I attended University where I undertook studies in business and computing, intending to pursue a career in business. However fate had other plans for me as events in my personal life placed me in a position where I had time on my hands and an active imagination. Pushed by my need to put down on paper what my mind created I began to write. Encouraged by my friends who enjoyed my stories I began concentrating more on my writing, something for which I am eternally grateful to them for.

After publishing my first books I knew I had found my voice and now I write books which run from paranormal fiction to urban fantasy and paranormal romance.  Now every morning when I get up I can’t wait to see what new stories and adventures will appear, demanding to be written.

When I’m not found in front of my laptop, I love to spend time in my garden, or curled up on the couch with either a movie on or a good book. Though you can be sure a notepad and pen won’t be far from me. After all you never know when inspiration will strike.

I bid you welcome to my sometimes strange, but always wonderful world.

We are pleased to welcome Laura Morgan  to the 2018 Darker signing!
Laura is a hopeless romantic with a dark side. Be warned, she writes cliffhangers and twists and turns galore, so if you’re after something light and fluffy, you might want to try elsewhere… 😉
Laura Morgan is a self-confessed computer geek, she enjoys both the writing and editing side of her journey, and regularly seeks out the next big gadget on her wish list.
She spends her days looking after her two young children and their cocker spaniel Milo, as well as making the most of her free time by going to concerts with her friends, or else listening to rock music at home while writing (a trend many readers may have picked up on in her stories.)

We are pleased to welcome  Marie Anne Cope to the 2018 Darker signing!

As well as being a dark fantasy and horror writer, I also teach Hatha and Sports Yoga and am a self-employed accountant.

As a child, I was always buried in books – books about faraway lands, about princes and princesses, about excitement and adventure, about mystery and fear.

Only once did I choose to write down a story, as a child. It was the tale of a severed arm being found washed up on the shore. It was dramatised by graphic drawings and heavily influenced by a certain movie I wasn’t supposed to have watched.

I was rapped on the knuckles and told never to write anything like that again. I never did. Not a word. Not for over fifteen years.

Why did I start again? Which of the voices in my head can claim credit for restoring my storytelling? I cannot say, for fear the others may fall silent. Suffice it to say the stories came thick and fast, once the dam had burst.

I entered many writing competitions, to no avail, but continued to believe that one day I would succeed.

It took three little words, whispered during an overheard conversation that brought me my success. Three Silver Bullets, a story I penned in less than half an hour, was published by Thirteen Magazine in 2005. This was followed in 2007 by Sheer Hell, which was published on the website of Climb Magazine.

It was my attendance at a wedding which changed my path from short stories to novels. The wedding was being held in an old village church. At the back of the church stood an ancient stone coffin covered in engravings. It was this coffin that sparked my interest and it was during the service that my imagination took flight. If it wasn’t for that wedding, Bonds, which became a quarter finalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards, would never have been born!

Although I left Bonds open for a sequel, I never believed it would be so soon. Somewhere, in the deep dark recesses of my mind, Antony and Becca would have another outing; I just had no plan as to when that would be. It was all down to requests from my readers that Broken Bonds came into being so soon, rather than being recessed somewhere dark and scary!!

Broken Bonds is the second of four novels centred around the unusual relationship between Becca Martin and Antony Cardover. The third novel, Bonds Re-Bound is currently being written, the voices in my head having penned a much darker storyline.

A venture which I’ve brought to fruition this Hallowe’en is my first foray into writing for children. The Misfits tells the tale of four supernatural friends who are failing miserably at being what they are expected to be and who learn to overcome these perceived failings, gaining the respect of both their parents and their peers.

I have also published a collection of some of my short horror stories, Tales From a Scarygirl.

By the way, the teacher who told me “never to write such horrible things again” is now one of my biggest fans!

I’d love to hear from you, dear reader, and to hear your thoughts on my novels. Do get in touch.

Here’s a little bit about each of the novels and what people are saying about them:

“‘Captivating’, ‘suspenseful’ and ‘gripping’, Bonds tells the story of Becca Martin’s struggle to accept her birthright as a witch and Antony Cardover’s battle to break his vampire curse. The two are bonded by Isabella, Antony’s adulterous wife and Becca’s ancestor. Bonds has received five star reviews and acclaim from readers globally.

Described as ‘Better than Twilight’, Broken Bonds continues the epic story of Becca Martin as she’s driven to keep a promise to a man who would rather see her dead. Becca is forced to delve deeper into her past and that of her ancestors to find the answers she seeks. Broken Bonds has again received widespread acclaim from readers, calling it ‘fantastic’, ‘brilliant’ and ‘worthy of five stars’.

Tales from a Scarygirl is a collection of short stories to chill you to the core, to make you afraid, very afraid of what lurks between this world and the next. Featuring Three Silver Bullets, Raven Bridge, The Creature Within and The Night Stalker, Tales from a Scarygirl is a ‘spine tingling page turner’.

With plots featuring more twists than a corkscrew through the heart, get ready to lock the doors and find your safe place as you discover the enthralling world of Marie Anne Cope… just be prepared for a long, dark night.”
